These terms explain how you can use Artoo Maker Lab (artoo.io) and what you can expect from us. We have kept them short and in plain English. By using this site, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.
Who we are
Artoo Maker Lab is a new, independent website for people who build things with Arduino boards, Raspberry Pi computers, ESP32 modules and robot kits. We publish tutorials, project guides, explainers and reviews. Throughout these terms, “we”, “us” and “this site” refer to Artoo Maker Lab. “You” means anyone reading or using the site.
Using our content
Everything we publish is for personal, informational use. You are welcome to:
- Read, bookmark and print pages for your own reference.
- Follow our guides to build projects for yourself, your classroom or your workshop.
- Share links to our pages and quote short passages with credit to Artoo Maker Lab.
Please don’t copy whole articles, republish our photos, diagrams or text as your own, or scrape the site to feed another website or product. The written content, original images and site design belong to us unless we say otherwise.
Code samples
Many of our guides include code snippets and sketches. You can use them in your own projects, including ones you share or sell. Where a snippet comes from a library or third-party example, the original author’s license applies. We note that license where we know it. Check before you ship anything commercial.
This is not professional advice
Our guides reflect careful research and hands-on tinkering. They are not a substitute for a qualified electrician, engineer or safety professional. Nothing on this site is professional, legal, financial or safety-certification advice.
Electronics projects carry real risks. Please take these seriously:
- Mains voltage can kill. Don’t work on anything connected to household power unless you are qualified to do so.
- Lithium batteries can catch fire if they are punctured, shorted, overcharged or used without proper protection circuits.
- Soldering irons run hot enough to cause serious burns, and solder fumes should be ventilated.
- Motors, servos and robot arms can pinch, cut or crush. Keep fingers clear when testing.
You are responsible for your own safety, the safety of people around you, and checking that a project is suitable for where and how you use it. Supervise children closely.
Accuracy and changes to content
We work hard to get things right, and we fix mistakes when we find them. Still, hardware changes. Boards get new revisions, libraries update, pinouts differ between clones, and a guide that worked last year may need adjusting today.
So we can’t promise that every page is complete, current or error-free. We may update, rewrite or remove content at any time without notice. If you spot something wrong, we’d genuinely like to hear about it through the contact options on this site.
Product mentions and reviews
When we name a board, sensor, kit or tool, it’s because it’s relevant to the project. Prices, stock and specifications change often, so confirm them with the seller before you buy. Our opinions in reviews are our own.
If we ever earn money from links or receive products for review, we will say so clearly on the relevant page.
External links
Some pages point to datasheets, manufacturer documentation, code repositories, retailers and other outside resources. We don’t control those sites. We aren’t responsible for their content, accuracy, privacy practices or availability, and a link is not an endorsement. Downloads from other sites are at your own risk.
Trademarks
Product names, logos and brands mentioned on this site belong to their respective owners. For example, Arduino is a trademark of Arduino SA, Raspberry Pi is a trademark of Raspberry Pi Ltd, and ESP32 is a product of Espressif Systems. We use these names only to identify the products we write about.
Artoo Maker Lab is independent. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any of these companies unless we state otherwise on a specific page.
Acceptable use
Please use this site the way you’d want others to use a site you built. Don’t:
- Try to hack, overload, probe or disrupt the site or its servers.
- Use bots or scrapers to copy content in bulk.
- Post spam, malware, or links to harmful downloads in any comments or submissions.
- Harass other readers or post content that is abusive, illegal or infringes someone else’s rights.
- Pretend to be Artoo Maker Lab or suggest we endorse you when we don’t.
If the site offers comments or submissions, we may edit or remove anything that breaks these rules, and we may block access for people who repeatedly misuse the site.
Limitation of liability
The site and everything on it is provided “as is”. In plain words, that means:
- We don’t guarantee the site will always be available, fast or free of bugs.
- We aren’t responsible for damaged components, fried boards, lost data, injuries, property damage or any other loss that comes from using our guides, code or recommendations.
- If something goes wrong while you follow a project, the responsibility for that build sits with you.
Some places don’t allow certain liability limits. Where that’s the case, these limits apply as far as the law in your area permits.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the site grows, for example if we add new features or start working with partners. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If you keep using the site after an update, that means you accept the revised terms. It’s worth checking back now and then.
Questions
If something in these terms is unclear, or you think we’ve got something wrong, reach out using the contact options on this site. We read every message and will do our best to help.
